The faculty of the Mork Family Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science (https://chems.usc.edu) of the USC Viterbi School of Engineering invites applications for tenure-track or tenured faculty positions at all levels in the discipline of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science. We welcome applicants specializing in the field of energy storage / batteries including, but not limited to, electrochemistry, next-generation battery technology, modeling of battery components, advanced manufacturing and battery recycling and re-purposing.
Additionally, computational candidates (tenured associate and full professor ranks only) have the opportunity to be affiliated with our new USC School of Advanced Computing, with priority given to those whose research aligns with one or more of the following affinity areas: computing and (i) sustainability, (ii) security, (iii) health, and (iv) systems.
The successful candidate is expected to develop a world-class research program within a stimulating interdisciplinary environment and demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. Priority will be given to the overall originality and promise of the candidate's research work. We are interested in exceptional candidates at all levels.
Positions are available starting August 16, 2025. Applicants must have earned a Ph.D., or equivalent degree in chemical engineering, materials science, or a related field, by the beginning of the appointment. Applications must include: a cover letter; curriculum vitae detailing educational background, research accomplishments, and work experience; a research plan; a teaching and service plan; at least three professional references; and an additional document is required for computational applicants seeking affiliation with School of Advanced Computing.
